Kohli start series as highest-ranked ODI

Dubai, Feb 4: Virat Kohli will be the highest-ranked batsman in the ODI tri-series that starts Sunday with a conflict between India and Australia in Melbourne.

Virat Kohli sits in 3rd place of the rankings, 45 points at the back South Africa's ODI captain De Villiers while Hashim Amla is on top, a different 26 rating points ahead.

The additional batsmen in the series inside the top-10 comprise India captain Dhoni (6th), former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara (7th), Mike Hussey (8th) and Michael Clarke (9th).

Ravindra Jadeja is the top ranked Indian bowlers in 13th place while Sri Lankan pacer Malinga is the highest-ranked bowler in the series at 10th place.

In the meantime, India will have a battle on their hands to keep their second place in team rankings. Number-one ranked Australia are on 130 ratings points, foremost second-ranked present world champion India by 14 points with fourth-ranked Sri Lanka another five ratings points at the back.

Sri Lanka could earn momentous number of points if they are successful in the series. In distinction, Australia and India can mislay points if they don't win most of their matches.

South Africa, who will be in concert New Zealand in a three-match ODI series, is in 3rd position, just one ranking point behind India.
